The Road to Amsterdam: A Family Quest for Big Dreams ✨
October is bringing a completely different energy this year. Instead of quiet evenings tucked away with a mug of hot tea, we are fully caught up in the excitement of a massive family adventure. My dad is flying in from Poland to Belgium, and from here, the whole crew—my son, my mom, my partner, and I—are heading straight to the Netherlands. For the next few days, Amsterdam will be the center of our universe, serving as the grand finale for months of hard work. While almost all of us will be hitting the course in some way, the ultimate hero of this trip is undoubtedly my dad, who is taking on the royal distance of the marathon.
For me, this journey is deeply symbolic as well—I am coming to Amsterdam with my January debut book in hand. When I was celebrating my first book launch at the beginning of the year, my dad was my biggest cheerleader. Today, I can see how incredibly similar writing a book and training for a marathon truly are. Both paths demand fierce discipline, countless solitary hours, and an unwavering faith that there is a finish line waiting for you.
Watching my dad train over the past few months has been an absolute masterclass for me as a writer. While I was pulling all-nighters, weaving the fates of the characters for my next novel, my dad was out there crushing a grueling training plan. I saw his relentless determination firsthand—waking up at the crack of dawn, running through scorching summer heat and pouring rain. Those hundreds of miles logged and ticked off showed me what true passion looks like. He built his peak fitness brick by brick, exactly the same way I am structuring the chapters of my new book.
Now, it is time for the grand finale of all that grit and sweat. As my dad tackles the streets of Amsterdam, our entire squad will be cheering him on with everything we’ve got.
